In 2010 we rented a single room in Surat, bought two hundred silk stems on credit, and told our first client the flowers would outlast the marriage. Fifteen years later she still sends photographs.
What began as a cheaper alternative became something else entirely. We learned that an artificial bloom is not a compromise — it is a different material with different rules. It does not wilt, so it can be engineered. It does not die, so it can be archived.
Today four hundred artisans work to the same standard set in that rented room: if a guest has to touch it to be sure, we have done our job.
